No matter how old you are, transitions are hard. As adults, we get the benefit of experience in how to deal with them, but our kids are often blindsided when they occur. Sometimes they are a welcome surprise, but often, they catch them offguard, and your child feels ill-equipped to deal with them in a healthy way.
One of the things we are trying to do in Family Ministry is to equip you, as parents, to navigate those transitions well with your child/student. You may have heard us say, “Lead with the end in mind.” Our hope is to provide tools to get you talking at home so that you can do that in a way that works for your family. You know what’s best for your kid, even though at times you don’t feel like you do. We want to come alongside you, prepare you for what’s coming, and give you tools to intentionally lead your kids toward the adults you hope and pray they will become.
On September 26th, we have a class designed specifically for parents of fifth graders. For most of you, this is your child’s last year in elementary school, and the thought of middle school may leave you shaking in your boots. We want to help you make the most of this year and set your family up to look forward to middle school, not dread it. We have some great tips that we can’t wait to share with you.
