Kids City | August 2012

Hello Kids City Parents!

We are almost through our summer program and are having a blast with your kids. And… there is more to come! In August, get ready to be ZAPPED, by the power of God, that is. This month we will finish our look at the life of Peter and see how he learned to plug into God’s power. God worked in and through Peter to change the world around him—and God does the same with us, too. On August 26, we will kick off our fall season by inviting our kids to “dance” as we explore Galatians and the freedom we have in Jesus.

Our memory verse –“But he kept believing in God’s promise. He became strong in his faith. He gave glory to God. He was absolutely sure that God had the power to do what He had promised.” Romans 4:20-21 (NIrV)

Below you will see what we will learn each week in August, but before we go there….a few things we need you to know:

  • Kindergarten Parents: Your kiddos are doing great! This is a big transition time. By the time fall kicks off … and we are ready to take a deeper dive in … our weekly servants will be back to get to know and love on your kids each and every week. By then your kids will know the routine and be ready to go. Thanks for helping them by being here at the same hour as often as possible.
  • Fall Kick-Off – August 26: We will be back in the swing of our regular programming for all ages … babies through 5th grade. Please start thinking about which hour will work best for your family as consistency at the same hour is key for relationships to be built. This will help foster comfort within a small group, which is the best environment for transformation to happen!
  • 3rd Grade Parents: This will be the first year we will have your kiddos in gender-specific small groups. Moms and Dads, you are important in this key transition! Guy and girl leaders are necessary and needed to create groups where boys and girls can start building safe circles and begin to share and ask tough life questions … don’t miss the opportunity to be involved in this phase of your child’s spiritual development. If you are interested in finding out more about giving 90 minutes on Sundays to create a great small group email Angel at aroyal@benttree.org.

Other age/grade-specific information will be coming out as we near kick-off. Until then, here is what’s coming up:

  • August 5: God gives me the power I need to help others/Peter Heals the Beggar – Acts 3
  • August 12: God wants to use me to show others the power of His forgiveness/Peter and Cornelius – Acts 10
  • August 19: Review of Peter’s Life
  • August: 26: God works in me and through me to change the world around me when I dance – Galatians 5:25
